Overview of CFN Website

Welcome to CFN, your one-stop website that provides the public with access to an easy, one-stop, single-point-of-contact network to all online Federal resources and services related to the purchase and distribution of USDA commodities to States, Indian Tribal Organizations, and eligible recipient agencies participating the following Food Distribution Programs:

• Commodity Processing

• Commodity Supplemental Food Programs (CSFP)

• Disaster Assistance

• Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)

• Nutrition Services Incentives Program (NSIP)

• Schools/Child Nutrition Commodity Programs

• The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

The FNS/Food Distribution Programs are administered by the Food and Nutrition Service's (FNS) Food Distribution Division, which works directly with State and local agencies to obtain and place their food orders in accordance with authorized levels of spending.

FNS coordinates its efforts with the following USDA Commodity Procurement Agencies which gather competitive bids from vendors, awards contracts, ensures delivery of all purchased commodities distribution to Food Distribution Programs.   

• Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS),

• Farm Service Agency's (FSA) Commodity Operations Office

In addition, FNS works with USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which supports our commodity programs by ensuring that meat and poultry products are safe and where necessary initiates product recalls for products considered unsafe for public consumption.
